Targeted Functional Testing
Used thoughtfully to personalise your next steps and reduce guesswork
Why I recommend testing
Targeted functional testing can be a helpful tool when it adds real value to your symptoms, health history, and goals.
Rather than testing everything “just in case”, I use carefully selected assessments to better understand what may be influencing your health and to help personalise the bigger picture of your care.
Testing is never used in isolation. It is always considered alongside your symptoms, lifestyle, diet, current supplements, and overall health patterns.
These tools are not about creating fear or chasing perfect numbers. They are about gathering useful information to support clearer, more practical next steps.
How testing fits into my work
Not everyone needs testing.
In many cases, simple changes to nutrition, lifestyle, sleep, stress, and foundational support can make a significant difference.
When testing is used, it is chosen intentionally — to help identify patterns, guide priorities, and personalise your next steps.
I do not use testing to create overwhelm or to reduce health to a list of numbers. I use it as one useful piece of information within a much broader conversation about your health.
Types of testing
The following tests may be considered where appropriate. Some women come to me already knowing what they would like to explore, while others want guidance on whether testing is likely to be useful. Not every test is suitable or necessary for everyone.
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)
Used to explore mineral patterns and longer-term trends that may relate to stress, energy, mood, and metabolic balance.
Functional Blood Spot Tests
Including selected markers such as:
-
Vitamin D
-
Omega-3 Index
-
Glutathione Index
-
Homocysteine Test
-
Glucose HbA1c
-
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)
-
Amino Acids Test
-
Additional targeted functional markers where appropriate
Hormone & Cycle-Related Testing
Where relevant, options may include:
-
DUTCH hormone testing
-
Saliva hormone testing
-
Adrenal function testing
These tools may help explore hormone patterns in context when they are relevant to your symptoms and stage of life.
Genetic & Lifestyle Insight Tools
Including access to nutrigenomic-style reports such as DNA Life, which may provide insights into how nutrition and lifestyle interact with your genetic tendencies.
Comprehensive Functional Panels
Where appropriate, access to selected testing through providers such as Nutripath (through Nutriscript) and FxMed, when a broader functional assessment is needed.
A note about testing
Test results do not provide answers on their own.
They need careful interpretation and should always be considered alongside your symptoms, health history, and individual circumstances.
For this reason, testing is not offered as a stand-alone product. It is used as part of a personalised consultation process so that results can be interpreted meaningfully and applied practically.
How to access testing
If you are unsure whether testing is appropriate for you, a consultation is usually the best place to start
.
In most cases:
-
a consultation is required before testing is recommended
-
a consultation is required to discuss and contextualise results
This ensures testing is used thoughtfully, appropriately, and in a way that genuinely supports your health.
If you already have a particular test in mind, you are welcome to get in touch to discuss whether it is suitable and how it would fit into your broader health plan.
